Dabney Coleman plays the acerbic Bill Bittinger,
a TV talk show host in Buffalo, New York. This outrageous
comedy was absolutely before it's time. Bill, with no
redeeming qualities whatsoever, was quite possibly the meanest,
back-stabbingest, sleaziest, funniest character ever to hit Prime
Time and, unfortunately, NBC didn't quite know what to do with it
and let it just die. It's too bad, the show had so much potential. Even with their
Emmy nominations and critical success, the show couldn't catch on
with the viewers - either being over their heads or hitting too close to
home to watch. But, for those with an open mind, this show was
brilliant. The tremendous supporting cast - Joanna Cassidy, Geena
Davis, Meshach Taylor, Charlie Robinson, Max Write and John Fiedler.
With no reruns now or any planned for the future, thank the
powers-that-be for DVD. |
